Best Electric Pressure Washers: DeWalt vs Craftsman vs Westinghouse vs EGO

We compared four current electric pressure washers on published pressure, water flow, hose and cord reach, portability and warranty — and explain why the highest PSI is not automatically the best choice.

Our verdict

Best overall

DeWalt DWPW2400

Based on published specs it delivers 2,640 cleaning units — enough for driveways and siding — with 10-inch pneumatic wheels, a 35 ft cord and a 3-year warranty. It covers the widest range of typical home jobs without the cost or battery limits of a cordless unit.

The trade-off in one sentence

DeWalt
Strong all-round corded performance and air-filled wheels, but no battery freedom and a bigger frame to store.
Craftsman
The most complete published accessory kit at this output, but standard (not pneumatic) wheels.
Westinghouse
Light and easy to store, but the lowest rated cleaning power of the four.
EGO
The most power and true cordless freedom, but runtime is limited by battery capacity and it is a much bigger investment.

Why it's here

On paper it pairs a solid 2,400 PSI / 1.1 GPM rating with the features that matter on rough ground: 10-inch pneumatic wheels, a 35 ft cord and a 3-year warranty. That makes it the easiest all-rounder to recommend for typical home jobs.

Key advantages

  • 2,400 PSI / 1.1 GPM (2,640 CU)
  • 10 in pneumatic wheels for gravel and lawns
  • 35 ft power cord
  • 3-year warranty

What you give up

  • Needs an outlet
  • Nozzle set and soap tank not confirmed on the spec page we used
  • Larger cart-style frame

Best for: Most homeowners who want one corded washer for driveways, siding, decks and cars

Craftsman CMEPW2400 2400 PSI corded electric pressure washer, official product photo

Craftsman

Craftsman CMEPW2400

Why it's here

Craftsman publishes the same 2,400 PSI / 1.1 GPM rating, hose and cord length as the DeWalt, plus a clearly listed five-nozzle kit and an integrated soap tank. It is CETA certified and covered by a 3-year warranty.

Key advantages

  • 2,400 PSI / 1.1 GPM (2,640 CU)
  • 5 nozzles including turbo and soap
  • Integrated soap tank
  • CETA certified
  • 3-year warranty

What you give up

  • Wheels not listed as pneumatic
  • Max PSI is rated with the 15° nozzle
  • Needs an outlet

Best for: Buyers who want the same output class as the DeWalt with a full nozzle set and onboard soap

Westinghouse ePX3100 compact electric pressure washer with nozzles, official product photo

Westinghouse

Westinghouse ePX3100

Why it's here

It is the most compact and lightest unit here at about 19 lb, and Westinghouse is unusually transparent in publishing both max and rated figures. The rated 1,900 PSI / 1.24 GPM is plenty for vehicles and outdoor furniture.

Key advantages

  • Lightest here (~19 lb)
  • Publishes rated, not just max, figures
  • 5 nozzles and onboard soap
  • Compact footprint

What you give up

  • Lowest rated cleaning units
  • Small wheels on rough ground
  • Cord length and warranty not confirmed

Best for: Smaller homes, cars and patio furniture where light weight and compact storage matter

EGO POWER+ HPW3204 3200 PSI battery pressure washer with two batteries and charger, official product photo

EGO POWER+

EGO POWER+ HPW3204-2

Why it's here

It has the highest published pressure and cleaning units here, runs on two EGO 56V batteries with no cord, and can draw water from a bucket or tank via the included siphon hose. EGO backs the tool for 5 years.

Key advantages

  • Highest output: 3,200 PSI / 1.2 GPM
  • No cord; siphons from any fresh water source
  • 5-year tool warranty
  • Shares EGO 56V batteries

What you give up

  • Runtime limited by batteries (not published on the page we used)
  • Highest cost class
  • Overkill for cars and patio furniture

Best for: Heavier cleaning, big driveways, and places without an outlet — especially if you already own EGO batteries

Practical context

Pressure and flow: why PSI alone is misleading

PSI is how hard the water hits; GPM is how much water you move. Pressure loosens dirt, flow rinses it away. A washer with high PSI but low GPM can strip a small spot well yet take far longer to clean a whole driveway.

Multiplying the two gives "cleaning units" (CU), a rough way to compare overall cleaning ability. By that measure the EGO (3,840 CU) leads, the DeWalt and Craftsman tie (2,640 CU), and the Westinghouse's rated figures give about 2,356 CU.

  • Max vs rated

"Max" figures are peak values, often with a specific nozzle. "Rated" figures describe normal operation. Westinghouse publishes both; compare like with like.

  • More isn't always better

Higher pressure can etch soft wood, damage car paint and force water behind siding. Match power to the job.

  • Flow matters for big areas

For driveways and siding, extra GPM saves more time than extra PSI.

Practical context

Using the right nozzle for each surface

Most damage comes from using too narrow a spray too close. Start with a wide nozzle, hold it farther away, and move closer only if needed. Never point a pressure washer at people, pets or plants.

  • Cars

Use a 40° or soap nozzle, keep your distance, and avoid aiming at seals, badges or chipped paint. Never use 0° or turbo on a car.

  • Decks & soft wood

Use 25°–40° and keep the tip moving with the grain. A 0° or turbo nozzle can gouge wood.

  • Siding

Spray downward at an angle with a wide nozzle so water doesn't get forced behind panels.

  • Concrete & driveways

15° or turbo nozzles are appropriate here; a surface-cleaner attachment speeds up large areas.

Before you buy

Buying guide

Pick by your biggest job
Cars and furniture need little power; driveways and siding benefit from higher cleaning units and longer reach.
Check hose and cord reach
Electric washers should not be run on long extension cords. A 35 ft cord plus a 25 ft hose gives roughly 60 ft of reach from the outlet.
Wheels matter on rough ground
Pneumatic wheels roll far more easily over lawns and gravel than small plastic wheels.
Soap and nozzles
An onboard soap tank and a full nozzle set save buying accessories later.
Battery or corded
Battery models offer freedom from outlets and can siphon from buckets, but runtime is finite and cost is higher.
Warranty
Look for at least two to three years; EGO offers five on the tool.

FAQ

Common questions

How much PSI do I need for a car?

Far less than the maximum of any of these. Use a wide 40° or soap nozzle and keep a safe distance; the power level matters less than technique.

Is 2,400 PSI enough for a driveway?

Yes for typical residential driveways, especially with a turbo nozzle or surface cleaner. Heavily stained or very large areas finish faster with more cleaning units.

Can I use an extension cord?

Manufacturers generally advise plugging directly into a GFCI outlet and using a longer water hose instead of an extension cord. Follow your model's manual.

What are cleaning units?

PSI multiplied by GPM. It's a rough way to compare overall cleaning ability, since both pressure and flow matter.

Are battery pressure washers as good as corded?

The EGO publishes the highest output here, but battery runtime is limited. For long sessions near an outlet, a corded unit is simpler.

Why isn't the Ryobi RY142300 included?

It was subject to an August 2025 safety recall, so we left it out of this comparison.
